Mayoral had previously been a target for Real Sociedad, who were also keen to bolster their attacking options with the 27-year-old. But Villarreal acted swiftly after securing funds from the sale of Sorloth and eventually reached an agreement with the Azulons.
Mayoral impressed last season, scoring 15 goals in 27 La Liga appearances. Before a knee injury kept him out towards the end of the campaign. And the 27-year-old would be a good reinforcement for Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side as they bid to secure European football next season.
