‘Oscar’ in tears waves goodbye to Shanghai

Former Chelsea star Oscar has left Shanghai Port in tears after eight years in the Chinese Super League.

The 33-year-old sensation left Chelsea to join Shanghai SIPG (before changing his name to Shanghai Port in 2021) for a fee of £67 million in 2017.

Since then, Oscar has starred in the league, making 248 appearances, scoring 77 goals and providing 141 assists, winning three Chinese ทางเข้า ufabet Super League titles.

The attacking midfielder, who officially joined the Chinese club in January 2017, spent five years with Chelsea between 2012 and 2017, racking up 38 goals and 36 assists across 203 games. 

He has raked in a staggering £160 million from his £20 million-a-year salary in the process.

A video shared on social media on Wednesday showed the former Brazil midfielder in tears as he bowed his head and waved goodbye to the fans who were chanting his name, before his teammates surrounded him and gave him a club scarf.

Oscar, who won three league titles during his eight-year spell in the Far East, also has 48 caps for Brazil to his name, making his last appearance for the nation back in 2015. 

Footage shared to social media on Wednesday showed the tearful midfielder with his head in his hands waving an emotional goodbye to supporters.

Oscar is not yet out of retirement. There are rumors that he may return to play in Europe or go to play in his home country of Brazil.
