Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi has been named MLS Most Valuable Player for the season.
The Argentine captain helped Inter to a record-breaking regular season. But they were eliminated in the playoffs in November. The
37-year-old has been directly involved in a league-leading 36 goals. Including 20 goals and 16 assists.
He picked up the award despite injuries limiting him to just 19 regular-season games and two playoff games.
“It’s truly an honor to receive this award with all of you,” said Messi in a video published by Inter Miami showing him speaking to the team’s academy players. “Watching you train fills me with pride. Inter Miami learned their group stage fate on Thursday for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. To be held in the USA, with Messi and Co. set to take on SE Palmeiras of Brazil, FC Porto of Portugal and Egyptian giants Al Ahly FC.
MLS Most Valuable Player award Chosen by players, club technical staff and media, Messi received 38.43 percent of the vote, narrowly beating Columbus Crew’s Cucho Hernandez, who received 33.7 percent.
